May 2018 Main Challenge
MEMORIES & FRAME

The beautiful month of May is here, and along with it, comes a brand
new Main Challenge here at More Than Words!
Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - MEMORIES
Creative Challenge - FRAME

What does the word MEMORIES inspire you to create?
You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project
or simply be inspired by it.  Since words are an integral part of our challenges, we want to know how this month's word stimulated your creative process, so please do explain in your blog post how
it inspired you if it isn't obvious in your work.

In homes across the world, we keep our special photo memories in frames. Look around your home and chances are you will see many frames. We also love to use frames on scrapbooking projects, whether they are chipboard, cardstock, stickers, stamps, etc. For our creative challenge, we would love to see you frame it up by adding at least 1 FRAME to your project.

Please check out all our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous designers have come up with!

Torsa: MEMORIES... so many things come to mind with this one word! I have visited so many places and countries, but in the back of my mind I always miss my birthplace, India, where I grew up. One of my favorite memories from India is my visit to Taj Mahal so I created my layout with the Taj Mahal theme, using this beautiful quote: "Even though our lives wander, our memories remain in one place." For the creative challenge, I have used 2 resin FRAMES on my work.

Anguree: The word MEMORIES inspired me to create a page with a vintage feel, but also a modern twist. I don't think that we really appreciate what we have every day. Just the other day, a friend mentioned to me that she watched me kiss my hubby goodbye and even though it was just a swift 'goodbye, enjoy your day' kinda moment, she could clearly see our love for one another. She said that she wished her life could be like that. It made me realize that we should capture each moment spent with our loved ones, knowing that each one could be a future memory. I used several ornate FRAMES on my layout, of different sizes and styles.

Aga: In my art journal spread, I used a FRAME stamp with the word MEMORIES within it. It is so meaningful and symbolic in itself. Let's remember about important moments in our lives, and art is definitely one of the best ways to reminiscent and keepsake these important moments.

Heather: I chose to scrap about a night of which I have very special MEMORIES. Even though it's a poor quality photo, it still reminds me of the wonderful time I had with some great friends. I added a chipboard FRAME around the photo
and other paper frames behind it.

Asia: Time goes so quickly. People disappear, and the only thing that stays with us are MEMORIES of them, of the life 'before'. How good were memories at the time when there were no photographs? How did people remember the ones they loved and lost? I can't imagine having no photo of the people who were so dear to me, and every photograph deserves a FRAME. This frame I made myself for my dad,
to keep one of my best memories of him intact forever.

Daisy: Family moments are the MEMORIES I cherish the most. The memory on this picture is a moment spent with my boyfriend, my children and my brother. Since I do not see my brother often, I enjoyed this precious time and I made it a beautiful memory. I incorporated the creative challenge by adding
 2 chipboard FRAMES as embellishments.

Martina: We all preserve MEMORIES when creating: memories of feelings, moments, people... This month, I chose of my daughter to scrap. As kids grow up so fast, we do forget how small they really were once. So when I actually frame this layout, it will stay as a memory on my wall. For the creative part of the challenge, I put
3 resin FRAMES underneath the embellishments.

Valerie: I was inspired by this month's challenge to scrap this adorable photo of my son posing behind a wooden FRAME. I used the word MEMORIES as the title for my page and I framed the photo with patterned paper. You could say that it is
a frame within a frame!

Sivan: There are some unusual moments we don't take seriously in the moment, but which end up being the most important moments that will not come back but we'll remember forever. Those are our sweet MEMORIES. I took a picture of my son one day while playing in the park. He was enjoying the swing and was happy to almost reach the sky. When I looked for a picture for this challenge, this one brought a big smile to my face, at the thought of this memory. I used a FRAME box for my focal point because there is not more symbolic than framing a magical moment like that.

Janice: This stunning photo was taken at Sarah and Callum's engagement photo shoot. Callum proposed to Sarah at a salt lake on his parents' farm. He wrote 'Sarah, will you marry me?' in stones he had gathered from around the lake. It was a place they went to often so Sarah didn't think anything of it when Callum suggested they go for a bike ride to the lake one afternoon. She said 'Yes!' This was one of so many happy and special MEMORIES to treasure. I framed the photo by printing 2 of the same and punching out a square and using pop dots to layer and join them together. Then, I added chipboard FRAMES which I inked. I even snipped a chipboard frame into 5 pieces and used the pieces as embellishments to decorate my page.

Rosalie: I have chosen my version of MEMORIES by using a photo from Facebook. In the future, my everyday memories will be by looking back at my daily electronic footprint such as Facebook and Instagram, and of course the good old #selfie! I have incorporated FRAMES around my photo layered on another
frame with stamped embossed frames.

Mary: "A life without MEMORIES... that's no life at all!" I chose to use that quote on my project because I do believe that to be true. Memories are the treasures of our lives. For the creative challenge, I have used a large resin FRAME.

Nicole: For ages, families have been posing for traditional family portraits to keep in frames in their homes. In one family portrait are countless stories and treasured MEMORIES. This is my family when I was only a baby, and even though I do not remember this time myself quite obviously, I am so happy to have this beautiful photo to cherish. I added many FRAMES to my page for the creative challenge, including a very pretty ornate frame from one of our sponsors, Dusty Attic.

Caroline: I found this old picture of me at 2 years old in my mother's picture stash. This photo is a fabulous MEMORY of my childhood when life was all about playing, eating and having fun. For the creative challenge, I added 3 FRAMES
to my composition, 2 chipboard and 1 metallic.

Heike: My Fair Lady was the first musical I saw. I think I was about 12 years old. It was also my first movie with the fabulous actress Audrey Hepburn I remember seeing. I was deeply impressed by this beautiful woman and I have fond MEMORIES of watching her on screen over and over again. When I came across this photo, I knew that it would be perfect for the May challenge! For the creative part of the challenge, I created a mixed media background using a FRAME image stamp.
There is also a video tutorial for this layout on my blog.

Anat: I miss very much that time when my daughter was still a baby. Although the MEMORIES are forever in my heart, I still love to use her baby photos in my creations, always using a FRAME to highlight them. I actually
love frames as embellishments or as the project itself.

France: This month's word inspired me to capture this wonderful moment during our travels to Lisbon 2 years ago. Riding the train in the narrow streets of this beautiful city was quite a fun experience and a MEMORY that I will cherish forever. I am a huge fan of chipboard FRAMES. I love the dimension and details that they can bring to a layout. On my Lisbon inspired page, I used 3 frames in different embossing colours to highlight my picture and 1 more for my side ornament.

Pamela: This photo represents one of my favorite MEMORIES of my 2 granddaughters being flower girls at my wedding. The Dusty Attic chippie is my take on the FRAME creative challenge. I love to frame my photos!
